A computer is an electronic data processing device. It performs arithmetic and logical operations. It is programmable i.e. it can perform a variety of jobs by providing different instructions called program. 

Programmer’s model of the computer can be well understood by the following diagram and the description.

A Computer takes data and a set of instructions called program as input. It processes data according to the set of instructions and produces information as output.
